The “meat and potatoes” of [lastfm]Zac Brown Band’s[/lastfm] second album is finished, according to guitarist/keyboardist [lastfm]Coy Bowles[/lastfm]. He tells Billboard that the follow-up to their debut album, The Foundation, is…
85 percent cut! Coy shares, “Zac’s done his vocals. I think he’s got to go back and do some guitar and things of that nature. I don’t want to put any dates out there, but I think it’s set to come out in the fall.” Bowles says the new CD – tentatively titled “Get What You Give” – “steps in a direction of maturity without going over people’s heads.” He explains, “It’s just been seasoned a little bit – it’s still the same wine, just a couple of years older and it tastes a little sweeter.”
The group has already released a version of one of the new songs, “Colder Weather,” on their new live album, Pass the Jar. Bowles says they have about 50 songs they recorded to choose from for the new project, and he’s excited about their diversity. He elaborates, “We still lean toward a Southern rock/country kind of thing, but there’s definitely radio-friendly stuff and still kind of an island, beachy vibe, and then we go off the beaten path and get into a kind of jam-band world. So I think it’s going to be really representative of where we are right now.”
