Hollywood Life is reporting that (500) Days of Summer’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt is “on the short list” to play the Riddler in the next Batman movie. Apparently Gordon-Levitt impressed writer/director Christopher Nolan with his work on Nolan’s upcoming film Inception. “Chris really dug Joseph [as an actor],” said a source. “There was a joke at first between them [on the set of Inception] that Joseph wanted to read for Batman 3 and things heated up as filming continued.” Others reported to play The Riddler… Johnny Depp and Stephen Colbert
Universal hasn’t given up on the Bourne franchise. The studio has hired Tony Gilroy, the Oscar nominated writer/director of Michael Clayton, to write a fourth installment in the series, tentatively titled Bourne Legacy. As of now, it’s unclear whether Matt Damon will return for the film. He has already said he won’t come back unless director Paul Greengrass returned, and Greengrass has publicly stated that he’s moved on to other projects.
The new Green Lantern film, starring Ryan Reynolds, isn’t due in theaters until next year, and already the studio is working on a sequel. Warner Bros. has hired the same trio of screenwriters who worked on the first script, to pen a treatment for the second installment.
