Michigan’s ban on texting while driving takes effect tomorrow… but there are exceptions. Read on for the list:
- You can still text while stopped. Such as at a traffic light or in a parking lot. Not sure if that includes while sitting on the Zilwaukee Bridge on your way home from up north.
- You can still text a report of a crime. Though if it’s that important and you’re in moving traffic, I’d think it’d be far easier to just call the cops.
- You can still make and receive phone calls. Which begs the question.. What’s the difference? You’re still looking down to work itty-bitty buttons to dial the phone. Seems just as dangerous to me. You shouldn’t be on the phone, anyway. You should be listening to the radio and enjoying the free entertainment we work so hard* to bring to you.
- You can work your dashboard-mounted GPS system.
There you have it. No go forth and be safe.
