Experience The ‘Terror On Tillson Street’ In Romeo!

Tillson Street in Romeo, is not your ordinary street, with decorations. There is a sinking ship run by skeleton pirates, a Bulldog Cemetery, an electric chair, and much more. The residents begin decorating around the second week of October and continue through Halloween. Last year the Tillsonites passed out candy to over 2,000 trick-or-treaters! And it’s all for a good cause too!

The street is blocked off during the trick or treating hours of 6 – 8pm which allows for a more safe environment for the kids. There is also a ‘Bulldog Security’ which is a group of volunteers who patrol the street on Halloween to help visitors with lost items and make sure everyone is safe. Most residents have their decorations up the weekend before Halloween, Devil’s Night is also a good night to come! There is no charge to come visit the street, the residents are not paid to decorate their houses and yards.

I order to raise money, they do sell shirts! The shirt design is different each year and all profits go to benefit the ‘Buzz Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund’. This fund was created to help the area schools with pay to play and vocational scholarships. The fund has given out over $15,000 since the passing of William ‘Buzz’ Lee in 2002 from a brain tumor. A lifelong resident of Romeo, he started the scholarship fund through a golf outing to help the students go to vocational competitions.

This year’s design is “I had a Fang-tastic night on Tillson St.”  There are limited sizes from youth to adult T-Shirts, Long Sleeve and Sweatshirts. The shirts are sold at 171 Tillson St. (586) 752-7658 home of Vicki Lee. The goal is to continue to grow the scholarship and help more students each year. The residents of Tillson St. welcome you to come out and enjoy in a long-standing tradition for all ages!!
