Singer, songwriter, recording artist and Detroit native Kid Rock will be in attendance for the Detroit Pistons 2010-11 regular season home opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder at The Palace on Friday, October 29 at 8 p.m. and will be recognized by Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) with a special presentation at the end of the first quarter. As one of the Pistons’ biggest fans, he’s also teaming up with the organization for a special ticket sales promotion to take place at each Saturday home game throughout the season.
[photogallerylink id=29050 align=left]Kid Rock performed three consecutive sold out concerts this summer at DTE Energy Music Theatre on August 13-15, increasing his total to 21 combined sellouts between the amphitheatre and The Palace, which dates back to his first performance in 1999. At the end of the first quarter, PS&E will commemorate this latest achievement by unveiling his updated arena banner, which has hung from The Palace rafters along with retired Pistons numbers and championship banners since it was first presented on January 30, 2009.
The game will also include the debut of a special “Born Free” music video, which integrates the famed rocker’s hit song with concert clips and various Pistons highlights shown on PalaceVision. TBS filmed his concerts at DTE Energy Music Theatre and used the footage and song as the theme for their Major League Baseball playoff coverage.
A regular at Pistons games, Rock will be sitting courtside in his very own personalized “Kid Rock” season ticket seats which were presented to him by PS&E owner Karen Davidson during his shows the summer.
As part of his friendly relationship with the organization, the Pistons and Kid Rock’s popular local clothier Made In Detroit are teaming up this season for a special “Saturday Nights Are Made In Detroit” ticket/t-shirt deal, beginning December 11. The Saturday night promotion includes two exclusively designed t-shirts featuring the Pistons’ logo presented in Made In Detroit‘s signature style and two upper level tickets for just $29 ($79 in lower level) for each Saturday night Pistons home contest.
