Another marriage involving a professional athlete is over! On Tuesday, Eva Longoria denied a report that her hubby, Tony Parker, had filed for divorce in Texas, and apparently it’s because she was the one who wanted to do the filing.
The Desperate Housewives star filed for divorce yesterday (Wednesday) in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. “It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce,” said Eva in a statement. “We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness.” Eva has requested spousal support and that her name be legally returned to Eva Jacqueline Longoria. The documents also state that the couple signed a prenup. Rumors claim that Tony, point guard for the San Antonio Spurs, has been unfaithful. According to USmagazine.com, Eva found out that Tony had been exchanging personal text messages with one of the couple’s mutual friends for over a year. Extra reports the woman is the wife of one of Parker’s teammates. TMZ claims the woman is Erin Barry, the estranged wife of former Spurs player Brent Barry. Brent, who played with Tony from 2004-2008, is in the middle of divorcing Erin. “Eva is heartbroken by the betrayal,” claims a source. Another insider adds, “Once the trust was lost, the marriage was over…she’s inconsolable.” Tony and Eva married in France back in 2007.
