CBS Television will have its 12th Annual “A Home For the Holidays” special on December 22. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jimmy Wayne[/lastfm] will be part of the all-star lineup for the event.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jimmy Wayne[/lastfm] actually knows quite a bit about a hard life.  Jimmy was actually abandoned by his family at the age of 13 and did some bouncing around from many different schools.  When 16, Jimmy me the Costner family.  From here, he found a lot of consistency within his life.  Jimmy started the Meet Me Halfway campaign last year which had him walking across America last year while raising awareness and money for homeless teens.  CBS took note of this touching story.

Jimmy had this to say to AOL’s The Boot:

“The fact that Meet Me Halfway began with a single idea at the beginning of 2010, and the year will end with millions aware of the campaign is amazing,” Jimmy tells The Boot. “People who watch this special will learn about aging out, because people don’t know what ‘aging out’ really means. By the end of 2010, millions of people will know thanks to everybody — all of the people that supported MMH this year. It got someone’s attention at CBS. It’s that simple. Someone was following the walk on Twitter, and thanks to all the fans and the supporters who kept this thing going and didn’t make me look like a dummy out there by myself. It got somebody’s attention. It led to someone hearing about some country singer out walking across America. Then they learn that I’m doing it because I’m trying to raise awareness for teenagers aging out of the system. CBS said, ‘That’s exactly who we need on the show. That’s a perfect fit.’ CBS loves Meet Me Halfway.”

‘A Home for the Holidays‘ airs on CBS on December 22. All us fans, followers & friends of Jimmy Wayne and supporters of his Project Meet Me Halfway campaign are absolutely thrilled to hear about his appearance on CBS’s annual tv special,”A Home For The Holidays” on Dec.22, 2010!!! What an opportunity to spread the word and raise awareness about the terrible problem of teen homelessness in our nation. Especially problematic is the relatively unknown issue of so many young people “aging out” of the Foster care system at risk, with no where to go and no one to turn to, ending up on the streets homeless!
Thank God for a man like Jimmy Wayne who having survived just such a desperate situation himself, took time off from his Country singing & songwriting career to walk halfway across America from Nashville all the way to Phoenix, to simulate homelessness and draw attention to the problem. To go from walking on the back roads freezing in the winter and baking in the summer alone and lonely much of the time, to appearing on CBS in front of millions…I guess the Project Meet Me Halfway walk has worked! And it’s only the first step really…:-)
Thank you Coop and WYCD for supporting Jimmy Wayne and his Project Meet Me Halfway campaign…you all help it happen and succeed!!!
    Best regards, Connie Lee (Conlee5)

This is a Major Milestone for Jimmy & the ProjectMMH to get the Message Spread & the Awareness on the CBS, “A Home For The Holidays”! What a Blessing especially since Jimmy came up with his Idea of Walking 1700 miles to raise Awareness for the Aging Out Foster Youth & the Homeless Foster Youth! He Finished his 1700 mile Walk & made a Huge Awareness & it is still continuing! What an Impact his Idea he had has made! For Jimmy to have the opportunity to tell his Story amoung all the Other people to make the Awareness even Bigger for the Foster Youth, is such an Honor for him & for us ProjectMMH Supporters!
