Top Ten Classic Christmas Music Videos

Film Still

There are a lot of great Christmas songs that have stood the test of time. My personal favorite is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Brenda Lee[/lastfm]’s ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.’ That song always puts me in a good mood… in fact I’ve been known to listen to it in August.

Sadly, many classic Christmas performances either weren’t caught on film or the reels are collecting dust in archives. But a few classic videos have surfaced on the web for our enjoyment.

Top ten classic Christmas music videos:

#10 Oh Christmas, the perfect time to get together with your favorite mullet rockin’ friends and suffer through a love triangle.

#9 Vintage Bruce (circa 1978) can get anyone in the Christmas mood.

#8 So few 1980’s Christmas songs stood the test of time but I think this one is a classic.

#7 John Lennon’s Merry Xmas (War is Over) is still relevant some 30 years later and I don’t know if that’s a good thing.

#6 This is the saddest, sweetest Christmas song and that’s only compounded by Karen Carpenter’s untimely death.

#5 Ah, let’s take a moment to pretend David Bowie lives in the same neighborhood as Bing Crosby’s relative and by chance the two musicians meet and chat about music then sing a duet.  Oh wait we don’t have to pretend because we can just watch the video!

#4 I always imagined Eartha Kitt to be much sexier singing this song but I guess it was 1953 and there is something to be said about modesty. Her deadpan delivery is pretty funny but watch closely, she has a little Morticia Addams moment around 1:15. (Sorry about the remix at the end.)

#3 This film footage gives me Christmas goosebumps.

#2 I’d have a blue Christmas without Elvis.

#1 If there could only be one Christmas song it would have to be this…
