If I was a kid of a major country star, I would think I could have everything handed to myself. Well, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Toby Keith [/lastfm]had a thought is children might think that, so he made sure to lay down the ground rules early. He told his kids that if they ever wanted to follow in Daddy’s footsteps, they had to finish school first, and then he would help. His daughter Krystal is cashing in on the promise.
Toby’s daughter Krystal is not new to the music scene. Back in 2004, she sang with her daddy on Mockingbird, which was a big hit. So she obviously has the talent, but now she has to go to Toby for some help. He found the help right at home by producing his daughters debut album which is set to release next year.
She is in great hands because Toby has produced 12 out of 14 of his studio albums, seeing eight of them go No. 1, including his most recent, Bullets In The Gun. The title track off the album is in the Top 20 and Toby knew exactly what he was doing when he wrote the song:
“I wanted to do an attitude song, where a drifter, instead of riding a horse is riding a motorcycle, and make it a Western theme but bring to modern day time,” Toby told The Boot. “In the name of love, this drifter meets his soul mate, and she’s wilder and crazier and maybe even meaner than he is. He’s probably been drifting all over the world on his motorcycle for years and encounters all kinds of different relationships, but this one was different. He met his soul mate.”
