Sometimes, you can find something out about your self when you are least expecting it. While Leighton Meester was filming her parts for “Country Strong,” she learned that she had the need to write music. And from her lyric style, she decided something about herself.
Just as Gwyneth Paltrow did to prepare for her role in Country Strong, Leighton did a lot of practice and actual song writing to get into character. With the songs she wrote, she seems to think she is depressed:
“Because of this movie, I started doing that for myself and writing music that speaks to me and is from my heart,” she tells The Boot with a laugh, “and apparently, I’m really depressed.”
“I just wrote a song at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris,” she says. “The guitar has been a nice tool for me to be able to write. I want to release the music, but I’m not pressured to do it at the moment.”
Country music was just a different game than she was used to. She found out the hard way that it was not going to be a walk in the park:
Vodpod videos no longer available.
“I grew to love it, and I have this movie to thank for that.” Plus, her character has to develop in a quick burst from an artist who chokes on stage to one who has command over a large audience.
