The game winning shot by Wes Leonard in a 57-55 overtime win, will be his last.  When Fennville took the victory over Bridgman Thursday night, and the team celebrated on the court, Wes collapsed.  After rushed to the hospital in Holland, MI., his friends and family received the word that he has passed on.

After securing Fennville’s perfect 20-0 season, Fennville students, families and faculty are not celebrating.  Wes Leonard passed away after the big overtime win against Bridgman.  It comes as a huge shock that an athlete in his condition could have this happen to him.  Fennville coach, Ryan Klingler, told the Holland Sentinel in a pre-game interview:

“That’s what makes [Leonard] a little different,” Klinger told The Sentinel in the Tuesday article. “He takes care of his body better than probably anybody I’ve ever coached. Spends a lot of time on his own in the weight room. He’s a special kid.”
