edens edge 2 Spotlight On WYCD Downtown Hoedown Artist: Edens Edge

With a sound that is like a “throw-back” to older country music, 2011 Downtown Hoedown performers, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Edens Edge[/lastfm], is going to give us an amazing performance at the Hoedown.  These Arkansas natives maybe be playing here in Detroit, but that is not their first stop.  They just played at the Grand Ole Opry!

Edens Edge sat down with AOL’s The Boot to talk about their current rise to stardom in the world of country music.  While many of the country music stars are lighting the stage up with electric rock guitars rocking out, the trio still has that “small town” feel. That’s because they are really from a small, southern town!

“Our first single has that small-town feel, where the saying, ‘Can I get an amen,’ is common in the Bible Belt where we grew up,” says Hannah. “It’s what would happen in a small town and what it’s like to grow up in a place where everyone knows everyone else and everything about them.”

This video has the group talking about exactly how they came together to “take it to the next step.”  They knew that making money in music doesn’t come right away, so they had to determine how much they really wanted this music career.

And at the Opry, I wonder if they were more excited about being introduced by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Brad Paisley[/lastfm], or the fact they had people from their hometown show up to the show:

“We had 16 people come from our hometowns to see us, and Brad Paisley introduced us,” Cherrill says. “We grew up listening to the Opry, so everyone was very excited to be asked to be on it.”

That small town feel is very apparent in their single, “Amen.”

Remember, they take the Main Stage of the Downtown Hoedown by storm Saturday, May 14th at 5 p.m. For more 2011 Downtown Hoedown artists, click here.  And read more about what the trio talked about with TheBoot.com
