There is no doubt that country music has changed quite a bit since I was growing up. The first show I ever saw just had an artist with a guitar and no fancy stage show. One person that is known for having a huge stage show is my girl [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Taylor Swift[/lastfm]! She says there are a few reasons that her shows are so big, but there is one main childhood memory that she uses to prep for creating her awesome shows!
According to Billboard.com, Taylor Swift bases her stage show quite a bit on the Broadway shows she used to see while a little girl.
Things like that just really inspired me from an early age to love putting on a theatrical performance where there are storylines and characters, and you’re always seeing a scene change into another scene. I love telling a story in any way possible.”
And telling stories is something she does well! All of her music videos are done so perfectly that we truly get the message she is trying to convey! And each video is a different story from one another…and that is the point.
“We spent months going over the set list and just thinking of where things would go, which ones would segue well into other songs and how we could tell individual stories,” she noted. “I didn’t want to tell one big story. I wanted each song to have its own story.”
While all songs are a great story, one of my favorite Taylor “story song” is “Back to December.”
