One of my biggest pet peeves is when people start chatting it up at the movie theaters, or even decides to start text messaging during the show. One woman in Austin, Texas has been made an example of by the theater. And throwing her out was just the beginning!
The Alamo Drafthouse is of the more strict movie theaters around that makes sure their patrons do not talk or text during the screenings of movies. And according to Yahoo, the Drafthouse’s founder, Tim League, says it is really distracting, and some people don’t realize it.
“It seems like nothing, but if you spend as much time as I do at the movies, you realize the entire theater sees it and it pulls you out of the movie experience. It’s every bit as intrusive as talking.”
And when the Drafthouse kicked a women out for texting and not stopping, she called them to complain. She shouldn’t have done that.
They have also had some famous people such as Jonah Hill and Michael Cera cut ads for them to tell people not to talk. They even caught up with Danny DeVito to discuss what was needed to make sure people stayed quiet!
