[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Miranda Lambert[/lastfm] and[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Blake Shelton[/lastfm] wrote a deeply personal song together, and Miranda reveals that this was ‘the first time she cried while writing a song.’  The song, “Over You” is about the emotional pain that followed, when her husband lost his older brother Richie Shelton who died  instantly in a car accident when Blake was only 14 years old.

In the November 2011 issue of Ladies Home Journal, Miranda shares the story of how she and Blake wrote this deeply personal song together, and why she recorded the song for her soon to be released CD titled, “Four The Record”:

“Blake’s brother was killed instantly in a car accident at 24, when Blake was 14. And one day he just opened up and was talking to me about it. And then he was playing this pretty little melody and we started adding words. I said, “You went away,” and Blake said, “How dare you,” and we both started crying. I’ve never cried writing a song before. Now that I’m so close to him, it’s my pain, too. Later he said, “I think it’s better if you record it. Honestly, I don’t think I can get through singing it every night onstage, so what’s the point?” I love that song, and I feel like it’s time for me to show I have that side of me that’s vulnerable and hurting for someone else.”

Linda's brother Rob Keyandwy with his baby son R.J.

I can definitely relate to Blake Shelton’s heartache over losing his sibling. I lost my ‘baby brother’ Rob Keyandwy (above) 2 years ago, and it’s still painful to even think about. I personally have mixed emotion about hearing this song once “Four The Record” is released…part of me wants to pop the CD in, and listen to “Over You”  first, while another part of me is kind of scared to unleash the floodgates of emotion. But that’s really what country music is all about…and even after a good cry while missing my brother Rob, it’s still good to keep his memory alive! RIP Brother Rob!

This song “over you” hit me hard. when i heard it yersterday i was transported back to may 20, 2003. Thats the day i lost my son john charles elkins , he also died instantly in a car accident at the age of 17. The news hit me so hard that i got sick to my stomach. And all i coujkd do that day was throw up. That song hit a lot of the feelings right on the head. I immeadiatly called my remaining son and daughter and told them they had tmn hear it . They also said it took them back . Miranda and Blake thank you both for letting everyone know the feelings and pain that comes from losing someone you love at a young age when their life should be just beginning.
