One of my personal favorite broadcasters, the iconic commentator Andy Rooney has passed away at the age of 92. He passed away just a month after his final commentary aired on 60 Minutes. CBS News is reporting he passed away Friday night in New York City, in a hospital due to complications following minor surgery. I posted a video of his final commentary about a month ago, and never dreamed he would be gone so quickly, as there was never any mention of illness.

Rooney spent more than 30 years wryly talking about the oddities of life for 60 Minutes. He would rail about how unpleasant air travel has become, question why banks have important-sounding names or just talk about the old clothes in his closet.

And here is Andy Rooney’s final commentary on 60 Minutes

Rooney and his late wife, Marguerite, had four children.
