Police say a central Kentucky father trying to load groceries and his three children into a vehicle after a shopping trip forgot one thing – his 6-month-old infant. I can only imagine how this Dad felt when he realized he left his baby at the store!
A few minutes later, a couple found the baby and took the child back into the store to call police. Nicholasville police officer Kevin Grimes says the father quickly figured out what he forgot and also called police while turning around to get back to the store. He says no charges will be filed.
I never ‘forgot my baby’…but I too did something stupid, and learned the hard way to NEVER leave a toddler in a running vehicle. When my daughter Gina was around 2 years old, I left her strapped in her car seat in our van, while I ran up to knock on my sister’s apartment door. It was only maybe 12 steps from the van to my sister’s door, but that was enough time for my daughter to wiggle out of the car seat, put the van in reverse and I had to run and chase the moving van, with my little daughter inside. Luckily, the van backed into a small tree which stopped the van and Gina was not harmed. It totally freaked me out, and worse yet I was so afraid to tell my husband, who I knew would FREAK OUT if I told him. So I did what most any embarrassed and ashamed parent would do, and I NEVER told my husband!
Have you ever done anything ‘stupid’ like this with your kid?
