Detroit’s former hip-hop mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is back in the news. To plea or not to plea, that is the question. And as usual it seems that nobody can get a straight answer. The Detroit News is reporting that Kilpatrick rejected a plea deal that could allow him to serve as little as 15 years in prison on federal charges of racketeering. But Kwame’s attorney says that no plea deal has been offered. Why am I not surprised that Kwame’s camp is ‘denying’ the news reports?
Kwame Kilpatrick denied that he had an affair with Christine Beatty. He denied that he sent hundreds of text messages to her too. He denies that there was ever a party at the Manoogian Mansion, where a stripper who allegedly had performed at that party was later found murdered. Deny, deny, deny. But he cannot deny the fact that he was found guilty and spent 15 months in jail.
Here’s the latest news…which of course includes yet another ‘denial’ from the Kwame Kilpatrick camp:Vodpod videos no longer available.
