Happy Birthday to the Captain!  It’s Nick Lidstrom‘s 42nd Birthday today and I wish we could be celebrating it along with another Wings win, but if you’re like me you’re still bummed about the Red Wings losing in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to the Nashville Predators. After such an impressive season it was hard to see it end so soon. Although the playoffs are continuing without us, most of us in Hockeytown are already looking forward to next season, but the ultimate question is; Will the Captain Nick Lidstrom return for one more year?

As of right now Nick isn’t sure, or won’t say whether or not he’ll return. Even at 42 he says he believes his body can hold up for another season, but isn’t sure if he’s mentally motivated for another season. I’d say he definitely needs to come back if that’s the case. His statement reminded me of a saying that I learned from a friend of mine who is an Army Ranger. They say your body will fail, but your mind can NOT! Rest up that mind and your body Nick and let’s see you back next year! Happy Birthday from all of us in Hockeytown!

Oh and yes I’ve heard that Nick and I bear a striking resemblance. Maybe we’re related? Haha!
