When Zac Brown is home after being on the road, he loves to spend time with his family and kids, but almost as important as that is spending all his free time on is his camp for under-privileged. Under construction in Fayetteville, Georgia, is Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground and he is very passionate about helping kids.

Zac says that his own kids will work at the camp, he wants them to understand that hard work is what they need in life and that nothing will be handed to them because their dad is a famous musician.  “We’re gonna teach them to fish, that’s really important. I’m one of those people that despite being on stage in front of thousands, my kids are going to know what it means to work and do something that matters with their lives.  I want my kids to be proud and feel good about what they’re doing.”

Doc asks about what Zac will say when his kids want a brand new car when they turn 16?  Without hesitation, Zac says, “Mark my words, I hope to talk to you guys when they’re 16 and driving. They’re gonna drive the biggest, heaviest , armored piece of crap car when they’re 16.”  With that being said, he adds, “My first car was a 1983 Chevy S-10 black pickup, red interior, that was my dad’s forever that got handed down to me.”

When Zac Brown and his band take a stage they are playing their brand of music, whether it is country, bluegrass or what. And with their latest single “No Hurry” in the top three this week on the country charts, their brand of music is being played with a vengeance. Brown says the lines of country music and bluegrass tend to blur a bit in his eyes, “You know Bluegrass fits dead center for me when I think about it, you know. It’s not as a commonly thing on the radio these days but I think some of that is actually more country than stuff that’s out on the radio. I guess country is just a… kind of a state of mind as far as how you think about it and it being wrapped around a great song for me it’s like, great song, people that are playing their instruments and if you can buck dance to it it ought to be… it’s kinda country to me.”  According to Google, Buck Dancing is any type of fast paced solo dance. Buck dancing is similar to tap and clog dancing, but with extra kicks, stomps, and taps to generate more sounds per beat.
