Night owls often wake up for work or school with a scowl on their faces and wishing for an IV drip of coffee, while morning people come skipping in 15 minutes early. However, morning people aren’t chipper just as the sun is coming up; they are happier and more satisfied with life overall, according to a new study. I am cracking up at the results of this study, because I am a TOTAL ‘morning person,’ while the majority of people I know are the ‘night owls’ that I drive crazy! I do wake up early and HAPPY every single day! Even on vacation…

And my friends who have went on vacation with me have ALL complained about how early I get up! But I am the one who has coffee ready for them when they finally drag their sorry butts out of bed! I feel like I have wasted half my day if  am not up by 8am at the latest!

How about you? Are you a night owl or early bird?  Teenagers’ night owl tendencies fade as they age, and the study says this switch to a morning-focused schedule could be why older adults are happier than younger ones. This might explain why teens can be more than a little cranky when parents have to wake them up early for something…like school!

Why do you or don’t you think that morning people are happier people?
