With the summer Olympic games coming up in the near future, there is news about everything possible regarding the events. And four time Olympic medalist, Michael Johnson, is making headlines with comments he said recently. A friend of his, and a runner that will compete in London, will be running with prosthetic legs. While Johnson knows Oscar Pistorius, also known as blade runner, is a great runner, he isn’t sure if he should be allowed to run because of his prosthetics. Other people aren’t so sure either!
According to Yahoo, Oscar Pistorius will be running in London for South Africa, and some people think that Oscar will have an unfair advantage! When he was a child, he had both legs amputated just under the knee, and he runs with two blade like prosthetics. And Michael Johnson is quite sure that this gives his friend an edge. And Johnson isn’t against him as a runner and thinks what he has been able to achieve is amazing. But Johnson says there are rules against certain devices being used for runners that are “able-bodied,” so Oscar should have to comply as well.
“Because this is not about Oscar; it’s not about him as an individual, it is about the rules you will make and put in place for the sport which will apply to anyone, and not just Oscar.”
