That’s right, pole dancing could be an Olympic Sport one day. There are many events in the Olympics that have been abandoned over the years, so of course there are many leagues and federations trying to add their activities to the roster. Believe it or not pole dancing has an official federation; The International Pole Sports Federation. The organization has turned what we used to only see in strip clubs, into an aerobic strength training exercise that both men and women practice around the world.

I am not at liberty to state whether or not I have seen the athleticism of exotic pole dancers in person, but I can say they are impressive! But should something like that be an Olympic Sport? In my opinion the Olympics are about tradition and hold great honor. No matter how athletic you have to be to pole dance, the origins of the “sport” are not traditional and not honorable either.

Although the television ratings may go up if pole dancing is added to the Olympics, I believe it should stay in the clubs.
