It’s hard to believe it’s been 11 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York. Today we remember all of those who lost their lives and vow to never forget. Although much time has passed, I still remember that day like yesterday. The weather was identical to today. Clear blue skies, nice cool breeze, and the smell of fall was fresh in the air. I was in highschool at Almont Jr/Sr High in Almont, MI. It was like any other day until my Algebra teacher, Mr. Carson walked in the room, turned on the news and said something terrible has happened. We tuned in after the first plane had hit and most of us witnessed the second plane hit. It didn’t seem real at the time and to this day it’s still almost unimaginable. Quickly our fascination turned into fears when we realized the amount of damage done and innocent people lossed. There was an eerie feeling everywhere I went that day and so I went home and spent the remainder of the day with my family.
Although none of my direct family was affected by a loss, we as Americans were all affected that day. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who suffered a loss that day and this date will always be a time of remembrance and thanks to those who have continued to fight for this great country.
What were you doing on September 11th 2001 and how do you remember this day?
