If Carrie Underwood’s music videos were a true portrayal of her life (and of course that is a huge IF), “Two Black Cadillacs” would prove that her criminal m.o. is escalating, from 2006 when she released her video for “Before He Cheats.”

Well, obviously, this is just great songwriting, excellent choices and artistic direction, and not real life.  So best not try these at home.

In “Before He Cheats” she uses a ‘Louisville Slugger’ as the weapon of choice to destroy the cheater’s ‘souped up 4-wheel drive.’

Fast forward nearly 7 years. In her new music video for “Two Black Cadillacs” Underwood’s character has resorted to murder, ala Stephen King style. ‘The women in the two black veils didn’t bother to cry – bye-bye, bye-bye.’

Sitting down for a video interview with Steve Grunwald of Detroit station WYCD, Carrie admitted the song was rather dark. But she also said her latest album (Blown Away) is on the whole very much unafraid of the dark.

“When we were writing it, the story was just so juicy,” she says (Carrie cowrote the song with Josh Kear and Hillary Lindsey). “It’s such a visual song, you can see it all playing out in your head when you’re listening.”

If you love a good Stephen King thriller, you won’t be disappointed! Here is the finished product:

In addition to performing at the GRAMMYs, Carrie Underwood is also nominated for two GRAMMYs this year–Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for her Number One single “Blown Away.”
