A whopping 85 percent of women admit to shopping in secret, and purposely do not tell their partner about money they are spending. The biggest draw for women is shoes and perfume, which are most ladies’ ‘guilty pleasures’. Not disclosing is pretty much the same as lying, so why do we do it? Most likely it is avoid an argument, and men are guilty of ‘secret shopping’ as well…

More than 79% of couples regularly buy items without telling their partners.

The most commonly given reasons for shopping in secret were financial – with many respondents saying they feared an argument over their spending if their spouse discovered their habit.

I personally would rather come clean with my husband, even if I know he will not be happy with me, because I cannot stand the thought of lying. I would be way more upset with my husband if he lied to me, than I would be if he spent money on something I did not feel we could afford, or we really did not need.
