When was the last time you checked your credit report? If you haven’t checked your credit score lately you may want to. A new study by the Federal Trade Commission  finds that 20% of consumers have errors on their credit report. Errors that are big enough to affect your score. Here are tips on how to catch mistakes and correct them before they affect your credit score or ability to obtain credit when you need it!

The FTC suggests going to Annual Credit Report.com to check for errors. The report is free.

There is nothing worse, than applying for a mortgage or loan and being denied based on an error on your credit report. You should also protect yourself against identity theft by checking your credit report at least once a year, to make sure that nobody is using your name or social security number to obtain credit.
