Taylor Swift’s Tour Tumbles Forward As Ed Sheeran Tumbles Onstage

Taylor Swift set out on tour earlier this week, and with just two RED Tour shows under her belt with opener Ed Sheeran, it has already been an eventful jaunt.

The pair kicked it off with a sold-out show in Omaha, Nebraska, but things did not go according to plan for Sheeran, who fell off a speaker in the middle of his set. Like Justin Bieber and Olly Murs before him, the singer misjudged an on-stage stunt that left him tumbling but with no serious injuries.

Sheeran bounced back and brushed it off, even returning to the stage during Swift’s set to perform their RED duet, “Everything Has Changed”.

The pair is rumored to be writing together for Sheeran’s next album, so a six-month tour together presents the perfect venue for working on new material. Sheeran, however, made clear to MTV U.K. that their friendship is not anything more than platonic, especially considering how close he is to Swift’s ex Harry Styles.

“I’ve got to be honest because one of my best friends did date her,” he said. “I’m not that kind of guy.”

The friends seemed to be in good spirits in a photobooth strip that Swift showed off on Twitter from backstage at the Wednesday show. Swift and Sheeran were joined by two of her backup dancers in the snaps.

Many of Swift’s upcoming shows have sold out to arena-sized crowds, despite the tour schedule calling on her to play many cities twice, with 66 dates at 47 venues.

Likewise, Swift’s music sales are also through the roof – the singer now holds the record for the most digital downloads of any artist to date. According to the RIAA, she’s racked up 39.5 million downloads, putting her ahead of fellow songstresses Katy Perry and Rihanna, who is the only other artist to top 30 million at 37.5 million.

Next up on Swift’s RED Tour are two back-to-back St. Louis, Missouri, shows starting Monday (March 18).
