Billy Currington‘s upcoming album, We Are Tonight, promises to put a smile on the face of its listeners. This time around, Billy said he went for a completely happy album, even ditching the one sad song on the project at the last minute.
He tells the Dr. Don Show with Rachael and Grunwald, “I don’t have anything sad to write about, and with the songs I hear I tend to draw towards the happier songs that other people write. And then I did have one sad song, a song called ‘Like It Never Happened,’ one of the greatest songs written, I think, in this town in a while. It was that one song that I was like, you know, ‘It just ain’t fitting,’ and I had to replace it with a song called ‘Hallelujah’, but it was the one sad song on there that just didn’t flow. I didn’t really want people to be laying out at a pool or something like that, on the beach or whatever and hear the album then finally get to that one downer and that makes ’em shut off the CD, so I was like, ‘No, I’ll take it off of there.'”
We Are Tonight will be released on September 17th. Billy’s debut single from the album, “Hey Girl,” is a Top 20 and climbing on the charts.
