If you or anyone you know lives in Almont, MI or the surrounding areas, you know football is a huge part of everyone’s lives in those small towns. That’s exactly where I’m from and I’m proud to support a great friend of mine in his pursuit to help special needs children in the area by teaching them the game of football. Coach Raul Matamoros is the founder of Camp Dream Team and tomorrow is the culmination of the 4th Annual Camp Dream Team.
The camp is designed for special needs kids ages 7 to 18 years old. The program is unique in that it is the only flag football camp for special needs children in the state of Michigan. The participants practice two Saturdays in a row to learn the game of football and most importantly have fun! On the third Saturday (Tomorrow 10/26/13) the kids play a game under the night lights at Almont High School. I can speak from experience and say; playing under the night lights is an unforgettable experience that will last with you forever, so these kids are in for an amazing memory making experience thanks to your help.
The game is made possible by the monstrous tailgate put on beforehand which includes bounce houses, D.J.s, food and more! All proceeds from tomorrow’s activities and game will go towards helping the local special needs community. For example, in years past the camp bought iPads for Almont School’s Special Needs classrooms. The children were able to use apps formulated for special needs kids to aid in learning. This year Coach Matamoros hopes to raise enough money for recess equipment specifically for the special needs community.
Tailgate begins at 4pm with kids face painting, live DJ, Bounce Houses, food and bonfire!
Kickoff is at 7pm and admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Remember that any amount you donate goes directly to help the special needs community at Almont Schools.
See you in A-town!
