After reaching No. 1 with “Carolina” late last year, Parmalee is now edging back onto country radio with “Close Your Eyes.” This is the band’s second single from their album Feels Like Carolina, which just hit stores this past December.
Parmalee just released a lyric video for “Close Your Eyes.” Watch it below:
Written by Adam Craig, Trent Tomlinson, Shane Minor, “Close Your Eyes” is an easygoing, mid-tempo song with an infectious melody that, as lead singer Matt Thomas explained, immediately catches your ear.”After a few listens we were like, ‘We’ve got to cut this song,'” he said.
Guitarist Josh McSwain agreed. “The whole song paints such a vivid picture. Literally, if you close your eyes you can see the song happening.”
The four bandmates (brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, their cousin Barry Knox, and longtime friend Josh McSwain) all hail from North Carolina, and they took their band name from the tiny town of Parmele (changing the name slightly for clarity), where began playing together and developing their sound in the early ’00s.
Over the years they worked with a number of songwriters and producers all across the country, who each in their own way encouraged the guys and helped them focus. They eventually found their place in Nashville, where they signed with Stoney Creek Records and released Feels Like Carolina late last year. “Carolina” is the group’s first No. 1 hit.
