Do you wish you could relive that dream date all over again? So do Rascal Flatts. Their latest video and single, “Rewind,” shares this sentiment as a guy tries to rewind and relive a perfect date he had.
The lead single off their upcoming album of the same name, Rascal Flatts sat down with Radio.com and recalled the reason they decided to cut the song, which was written by Eric Paslay, Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley.
“I was the first one to hear it in a song pitch meeting in Nashville,” Jay DeMarcus told Radio.com. “When I heard it, it just jumped out of the speakers. The chorus was so catchy and hooky. Especially the middle of it, ‘So you can let it fall one more time.’ I took it and played it for the guys and they felt the same way. We went in and cut it and I think it turned out better than we expected. It’s a great song and we’re proud of it.”
“Rewind” was the first time DeMarcus produced a song for Rascal Flatts and the guys had a good time recording it at his home studio, as he sat in his underwear he joked. Watch the Mason Dixon-directed video for “Rewind” below.
Radio.com New Music to Know Artist Eric Paslay wrote the song and confessed that he would have loved to cut the song for himself.
“The wild thing is, I wrote the song and I love the song. If I didn’t have an album out, I would have loved to see if the other writers would have let me record it,” he said.
But he’s glad the Flatts guys decided to cut it. Paslay met Rascal Flatts at the ASCAP Awards and was able to thank them in person for recording “Rewind.”
“They told me there that it was going to be their lead off single of this new album. I’m just thrilled to death. For them to record a song is just amazing,” he said. “They did such a great job. It sounds awesome on the radio too so I’m pumped for them and I’m glad we wrote a good song that’s getting heard.”
