Congrats To Our Friend Dierks Bentley On His New #1 Album ‘Riser’

Author: Jason the 200 lb. Cowboy

Dierks Bentley‘s brand new album, Riser, debuts at Number One on the Billboard Country Albums chart this week. This is the fifth album of his career to bow at the top of the country albums chart. Riser is Dierks’ most personal album to date, touching on the death of his father and at the time, the impending birth of his first son.

His last album, Home, was the first to be made under Dierks’ self-implemented new process for making records, and he tells The Dr. Don Show with Rachael and Grunwald that Riser took that process a little bit further. “I feel like Riser’s a little bit more of a fully realized version of that, and that started with just songs. Like, our goal was great songs. ‘I’m not sure what they’re gonna be about yet but we’re gonna get great songs and we’re gonna get songs that I didn’t write all of them, you know, like I usually do. We’re gonna find outside songs,’ so that was the benchmark. Well then life came along and my dad passed away in the beginning of the process so . . . boom! It’s like here we go. This is like a lot of material is gonna come from this, obviously, and then I find out halfway through the recording process that my wife’s pregnant and we’re having a boy, and that just really blew my mind, so now I have a son. I feel it’s a big responsibility to like make him be a great guy because there’s so few out there, so, yeah, I’ve learned a lot through making it and still am, so it’s a special record.”
