Kenny Chesney is another star reconsidering how women are represented in country music.  The country superstar tells he’s noticed in recent years that many songs “have been written in kind of an objectifying way.”  He explains that the songs imply “if you didn’t wear cut-off jeans or a bikini top, or sit on a tailgate and drink, then you really weren’t worthy, you didn’t really add up.”  So he’s included a different type of female-focused song on his upcoming album.  He says “Wild Child” is “telling some girl out there that’s got dreams, that’s a free spirit, who’s smart and interesting, that she has a chance, that she is worthy.”  Chesney explains that he thought about the women in his life, who “all had this idea of the ‘wild child’ in them,” as he wrote the song. “Wild Child” is one of the eleven tracks on Kenny’s new album, “The Big Revival,” which will be available September 23rd.

Chesney’s remarks are similar to comments Brad Paisley recently made about how women are represented in country music.  And Brad is also trying to change the trend.  He has two songs on his new album, “Moonshine in the Trunk,” that celebrate women for who they are, not how they look.
