“The Voice” is back for 2014 with the first round of selecting contestants by the panel of four judges spinning in chairs...Blake Shelton included. Blake plans on spinning in his chair for a long while. “At this point, to see somebody else sittin’ there in my chair doing that job,” says Blake. “I think I would never be able to watch it without being jealous.”
You can see why. Ever since debuting with the show in 2011, Blake’s star has risen tenfold or more thanks to his smart-aleck jabs, music savvy and his success as a judge. Blake has won the competition three times in front of a TV audience of upwards of 15-million, who view the show each week on “NBC.” Since his first show on The Voice, Blake had a pair of number one songs and won two “Academy of Country Music Awards” and six “Cant Mention Awards” trophies, including “Entertainer of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for his 2013 album, “Based on a True Story.” Coincidence? Hey – it sure can’t hurt!
Leaving the show would also mean Blake would have to end his infamous bromance with fellow judge, Adam Levine. Shelton, with tongue firmly in cheek adds, “That part probably wouldn’t bother me as much as people think.” But seriously, their griping is all for fun. “We really are friends,” Blake explains. “We’re giving each other crap like we’ve known each other all our lives. I just think the world of that dude.”
