“I See You” isn’t just the latest single from Luke Bryan‘s 2013 release Crash My Party. Turns out it’s the Georgia singer’s favorite song on the entire album.
“I just loved it from the day we wrote it and demoed it,” Bryan tells Radio.com.
And when he says he loves it, he really means it. “‘I See You’ has always been my favorite song on the album,” Bryan declares, unprompted and without hesitation.
Love for the song actually runs in the family, as it’s also “Bo and Tate’s favorite song,” Bryan adds. He flashes a big grin at the mention of his two sons, ages 6 and 4 respectively. “They’re good at picking singles.”
We spoke with the country superstar in Los Angeles, Calif. on Oct. 25, the day of Bryan’s performance at the famed Hollywood Bowl. That show marked the end of his 2014 “That’s My Kind of Night” Tour, a long 77-date trek that kicked off back in January (the tour recently added a handful of dates in early 2015).
Bryan wrote “I See You” with songwriters Ashley Gorley and Luke Laird. “Luke Laird had a loop with a guitar lick going,” Bryan explains of how the session began. It turned into a rather productive day, too. “We wrote two songs that day, and I’ve cut both of them.”
