Will Hoge didn’t title his upcoming album Small Town Dreams because it sounded nice. He did so because it meant something to him.

Proof of what that is surfaced today in “Growing Up Around Here,” the lead track from Hoge’s upcoming album (due April 7) that premiered on Rolling Stone.

WIth lyrics about a “sleepy little one horse dot on a map” of a town, the song speaks directly to the life experience shared by millions. Ditto his chorus of being “kinda proud” to have “[grown] up around here.”

“It took a whole lot of miles to know what I know now,” he sings.
