Calling all Animal Lovers: A new no-kill animal rescue, I Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven, is set to open its doors next month, kicking things off with an Open House Fundraiser this Saturday, September 19th!

Open House Flyer FinalI Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven is a new, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates as a 100% no-kill shelter in Warren, Macomb County, Michigan –the mission of the shelter is to foster the “no-kill” ethic: to rescue, rehabilitate, re-home and provide refuge for homeless dogs– as well as pets belonging to domestic violence survivors.

I Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven was founded in 2015 by the animal-loving team of Dianne Reeves and Andrea Kolanowski-Sesi, who both share deep experience volunteering with other Michigan rescue groups.

The event will be held on the new I Heart Haven grounds, 22415 Groesbeck Highway, Warren, on Saturday, September 19th from 1-5pm.

This fun family event will have live music, food, a poodle fashion show, Police K9 unit demos, dog training advice, and a dog agility course. Kids will enjoy games, face painting and goodies. There will be a silent auction and raffle items including a 55” Smart TV, golf package for four, BMX bike, Detroit Tigers infield box seats, Ian Kinsler autographed bat, gift certificates and more to help raise much needed funds for the Shelter.

Dianne Reeves, Co-Founder of I Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven, says, “This rescue is unique to the area, because training and socialization will be at the heart of our program. We will train dogs in a designated training area at the Haven and offer human training for adopters, as well, which contributes to their overall success and satisfaction with a new pet. Plus, most of the dogs will live in communal spaces, and be able to play and exercise all day.” Reeves also added “Our mission does not stop at dogs. We are also offering shelter and protection for the pets belonging to domestic violence survivors as they seek their own escape from abuse, and while establishing a new life of independence on their own. We are very pleased to be partnering with Turning Point Services of Mt Clemens, acting as a resource to house pets or find fosters for them, when their owners would stay in abusive situations before they would leave a beloved animal in danger.”
