Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood took the summer off after their whirlwind tour, with the record-breaking shows including their sold out shows here in Detroit, and here’s what they say about going back ‘on the road again!’

The Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood is about to kick off its second year, and the man whose name is at the top of the bill couldn’t be more excited. “I’m ready to get back on that stage. I’m ready to hear those people sing,” he says as he looks ahead to returning to the stage in Dallas, Texas Thursday night (September 17) for the first of seven record-breaking shows. “It’s going to be hit with full-force,” he adds. “I can’t wait for the collision that happens down in Dallas!”

Garth and Dallas have a long-standing connection that includes some of the biggest highlights of his career. His first two network-TV specials – 1992’s This Is Garth Brooks and 1994’s This Is Garth Brooks, Too – were filmed during tour stops in the city (at Reunion Arena and Texas Stadium, respectively). Those broadcasts provided many Americans with their first look at Garth as an entertainer and drew fans to years of subsequent concerts and shows. “This place has always been amazing for me…and (I) feel really, really good rolling back in there,” Garth tells us. “This ought to be epic.”

Reflecting briefly on the tour’s first year – which saw Garth and Trisha play to more than 2.2-million fans, shattering attendance records in nearly every city they visited – he admits, “The first year, I was scared. I didn’t know what to expect.” All that is set aside now, though! After a brief six-week break and a run of recent rehearsals in Nashville, Garth says, “I’m hungry and I miss it.” And Trisha’s ready, too. As compared to past years when she’s been on tour while Garth was at home, “Now it’s like, ‘We’re getting ready to leave, but I don’t have to say goodbye to you’!” she explains. “It’s awesome!”
