Dan Tallman from Lake Orion has become an Internet star thanks to his wife’s sense of humor. Dan and his wife Amanda have been married for five years. Recently Dan, Amanda and his buddy were out at a bar where Dan’s buddy took a picture of Dan’s ring and later posted it on Reddit. Within 24 hours the picture had almost 800,000 hits!
Why is it so popular? The Tungsten wedding band was laser engraved with the phrase “Put It Back On” to make sure Dan never forgot.
Dan, who listens everyday, talks with Chuck, Rachael and Grunwald about his Internet fame. “It was unexpected, but when you think about Amanda, it basically sums her up, we have a good, fun, humorous relationship.”
His wife actually dreamed up the engraving and slipped a note to the jeweler asking him to do it as a surprise. When he put the ring on for the first time and saw it, Dan said he laughed.
“It was unexpected to me, but when you think about Amanda, it pretty much sums her up,” he said.
He said the ring only comes off if he’s working on his car. “I got a Tungsten ring, and that’s another part of this story. This thing had to be laser engraved, so that engraving was almost half the cost of the ring, so she was all in.”
The comments have been brutal since the story went viral, Dan said, and to the haters he says one thing: The ring doesn’t mean his wife is insecure.
So what do you think, is this a good thing to put inside your spouse’s ring or would you prefer something more romantic?
