Kacey Musgraves is sick and tired of her lyrics being used without permission. In case you missed it, the singer took to Instagram to post a picture of a plaque she said was being sold at a “major western wear chain,” featuring her lyric “mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy.”

The problem is, the company didn’t have permission to use her words, which means she wasn’t getting compensated for the product (it has since been pulled off the shelves).

“My lyrics are being ripped off so many times and, naturally, nobody buying this stuff would ever know that the people who actually CREATED these lyrics are seeing ZERO benefits,” she writes. “It’s a huge problem I face every day. There are correct ways to go about using intellectual property to sell and it’s not being done.”

While Kacey admits it’s “flattering” and it’s “getting my message out there,” she notes, “Theft is not a compliment.” Finally she notes, “The product might be cute but stealing ain’t.”
