The ACM Awards welcomes Kelsea Ballerini and Jana Kramer into the Female Vocalist of the Year category. Miranda Lambert is the reigning Female Vocalist of the Year and has won the award six years in a row, tying her with Reba McEntire for most wins in the category. Carrie Underwood has won the award three times. This year marks Kacey Musgraves’ third nomination in the category, and Kelsea is the New Female Vocalist of the Year.
Miranda Lambert is grateful for her career and for the recognition from the music industry. “I don’t know what else I’d be doing if I wasn’t doing this. So it feels really good to know that people are paying attention and they are voting for me.”
Kacey Musgraves is glad to be carrying a banner for women in country. “I just think it’s a great time for women in country music, and it’s also a good time for music in general, and I’m just really proud of existing in this time period and being a part of it all.”
Carrie Underwood says it’s an honor to be nominated. “It’s really cool to be nominated and I feel like especially the nominations that I’ve received over the past couple of years have been very special. Being in Las Vegas has always been a lot of fun.”
Kelsea Ballerini says it’s an honor to be part of the ACM Awards. “These award shows they’re like the heartbeat of country music. It’s like where all the people that make the music that is on the radio that is people’s lives are all together and just celebrating country music together and just celebrating that it’s like getting an award.”
Jana Kramer says her second album 31 helped her grow as an artist. “With this album it’s just been a process and I’m proud of that process because it’s turned into some great songs and you know an album I can stand behind.”
