Actresses in Hollywood did it and now female athletes are fighting for equal pay! It’s kind of sad that it has to come down to a lawsuit, but sometimes you have to make a little noise to be heard!

In the lawsuit filed 5 top players are demanding equal pay and playing conditions just like the men’s national team gets. Right now, the women’s soccer team make about a quarter of what the men do, and unlike the guys, the women have earned the World Cup trophy not once but three times, most recently last year in 2015! That still wasn’t enough to get them the same pay and treatment as the guys. They’re fighting for not only themselves but for future players. I love their passion to win!!

Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn, Carli Lloyd and star goalie Hope Solo were the brave players that actually signed their names on the lawsuit, but in a statement they released the lawsuit was on behalf of the entire women’s national team. The ladies appeared on The Today Show (3/31) to talk about it. Take a look!

So interesting that the ladies take home the 2015 World Cup and got a mere $2 million to share among the team, while the men got knocked out in the 2014 Rio World Cup and got $9 million to divvy up. That is so unfair! Go ladies and good luck getting what you deserve!
