Cole Swindell is holding on to number one. The singer’s latest single, “You Should Be Here,” is once again on top both the “Billboard” Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts. Cole sat down with Chuck, Rachael and Grunwald at the ACM Awards to talk about the success of this very personal song from Cole.
Cole says that in the video, it was the first time, he’d been at his father’s grave site since his father’s funeral. “It’s kind of embarrassing to me to admit that I hadn’t been back to my father’s grave since the funeral. I’m not the only one that’s done that. I’ve heard many stories like that and it let’s me know I’m not alone.”
Even though the song is about Cole losing his father, he hopes that people who are just missing someone can relate. “Hopefully not everyone (who listens to the song) didn’t lose their dad. Maybe it’s someone their missing. Talking to ya’ll, my buddies back home would be freaking out watching me do what I love.”
Finally, Cole knows that his dad is watching him, “He’s got the best seat in the house.Things don’t happen the way they did for me without someone looking out for ya.”
