A few weeks ago, a story was in the news about a very kind gesture from Westland police officer, Josh Scaglione. He stopped a vehicle for window tint and as he approached the car of LeVonte Dell, he noticed that his young daughter was not in a car seat. After talking with LaVonte, Officer Scaglione made an offer that totally caught LaVonte off guard. Officer Scaglione said that LaVonte explained that he had some wage garnishments on his paycheck and couldn’t afford a car seat. So Officer Scaglione offered to take him to the store to buy him a car seat.

After taking LaVonte to the store to buy a car seat, they parted ways. Being caught up in the moment of the kindness from the officer, LaVonte did not get the officers name. So he took to Facebook to share his story and hopefully find out which officer helped him out. in no time, the post went viral. with over one million hits on the Westland Police Department Facebook, it didn’t take long to find Officer Scaglione.

Chuck, Rachael and Grunwald wanted to honor the Westland Officer for his selfless, humble and kind gesture with our very first WYCD Humble and Kind Award. Just like the Tim McGraw song says, “always stay humble and kind.” With what Officer Scaglione did, we think this is the definition of humble and kind.
