A new song by the late Merle Haggard is expected to drop today. “Kern River Blues” will be available on the late singer’s website and iTunes, with ten percent of the proceeds from the song going to help homeless charities.

The song, which features Merle’s son Ben on guitar, was reportedly written February 9th, a little less than two months before Merle passed away at the age of 79.

According to his website, “Kern River Blues” is Haggard’s last recording chronologically (although hundreds of unreleased songs are reported to exist) and it’s all about “his memories of leaving Bakersfield in the late Seventies.”
