Social media is having fun with a notably 21st century sculpture in a Texas city. The city of Sugar Land recently installed a sculpture of two girls taking a selfie in the town square.

It’s part of a ten-piece collection recently donated to the city. On social media, people are posting pictures of the selfie statue with comments questioning the decision behind it. One of other statues installed is a guitar player sitting on the ledge of a fountain.

As you might imagine, some local taxpayers are less than thrilled. One Marshall Parrott tweeted, “When you just wanna mess around with taxpayers’ money.” But there’s good news. As the City of Sugar Land later responded, they’re all donated. “These statues were a donation from a resident.”
