Blake Shelton turned 40 over the weekend, and his girlfriend Gwen Stefani wished him a happy birthday in an absolutely adorable way. Gwen posted a childhood photo of Blake, with the B-day message, “Happy birthday to my favorite person I ever met @blakeshelton,” adding the hashtag “#superbabe.”

And Blake definitely seemed to like his well wishes, because he responded, “Now THIS is how you start your 40’s!!!!!!!! Thank you @gwenstefani for everything…”

But that’s not all, the audience at Blake’s Country Jam set in Colorado were the ones who got the birthday surprise Saturday night, when Gwen came out and joined Blake on stage. The couple performed their duet “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” and then later during Blake’s encore Gwen came out and performed her No Doubt hit, “Hella Good.”

“I possibly witnessed the coolest and craziest thing of my life tonight…. Thank you Colorado and @gwenstefani!!! Look up the videos!!,” Blake later tweeted. Gwen then replied on Twitter, “@blakeshelton ummmmm?? Did that really just happen? #happybday #hellagood #breakmyheart gx.”

Here are a couple of those videos!

And from a different angle…
