By Jason the 200 lb. Cowboy

Toby Keith is no stranger writing songs about the military. In 2003, he released “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” in response to the attacks of 9/11. But unlike that song, “American Soldier,” which he wrote with Chuck Cannon, is more of a salute to the troops.

Toby says about the song, “It’s no political statement like, ‘Red, White and Blue‘ was, but we wrote the dog out of it. It’s really a great song and everybody that hears it gets moved by it. And it’s a working man-type song.”

This song topped the charts for four weeks.
