Taylor Swift had a perfectly good reason for skipping the MTV Video Music Awards, other than the fact that she wasn’t nominated this year. Apparently, Taylor had to be in Nashville to report for jury duty.

Taylor arrived at the courthouse at 8am, and was reportedly “very kind,” chatting with fans, and listening to stories from other jurors.

The singer was even questioned about being a possible juror in a possible rape case but was dismissed after she told the judge she didn’t think she could be impartial because she’s currently involved in a civil case involving a sexual assault. To remind you, Taylor is suing a DJ in Colorado who allegedly fondled her at a concert meet and greet. And he’s suing her back for slander.
